Charlotte Amalie is the capital of the US Virgin Islands. St Thomas Synagogue
The St Thomas Synagogue is the oldest synagogue in the United States, and since 1979 it’s been listed as a National Historic Landmark. It was built in 1796 by Sephardic Jews from Amsterdam, and it’s a great example of Moorish Revival architecture. The synagogue is still used today for religious services, and it’s open to the public for tours. Tour admissions are $5 for adults and $2.50 for children, and the synagogue is open from Monday to Friday, 9am to 4pm.
St Thomas Botanical Garden

Water Island

Red Hook

99 steps

Mountain Top

History of Banana Daiquiri
It is also at the Mountain Top where St Thomas signature drink, banana daiquiri, was first made. The drink was supposedly invented by a bartender named Joe Hernandez on the island in the 1940s. He combined bananas, rum, and ice cream to create a refreshing and delicious beverage that quickly became a fixture of the St. Thomas bar scene. In fact, there is even a museum in St. Thomas dedicated to the drink, which showcases its history and highlights some of the best recipes for making it.
