About the Pompidou Center – History and Meaning
The Pompidou Center was built in the 1970s and opened to the public in 1977. It’s a piece of high-tech architecture, designed by architects Renzo Piano, Richard Rogers, Su Rogers, and Gianfranco Franchini. The building is named after Georges Pompidou, the President of France who commissioned it.
