Franklin On Foot
One of the best ways to see everything Franklin has to offer is on foot. There are a number of historic walking tours, and the city is small enough that you can easily walk from one end to the other in just a few hours. Be sure to check out the downtown area with its quaint shops, boutiques, art galleries, historic buildings and restaurants, as well as the beautiful murals that line the sidewalks.
Visit Downtown Franklin
There are many unique shops and restaurants to explore in downtown Franklin. Take a leisurely stroll down Main Street and pop into some of the local businesses. Be sure to check out the iconic Clock Tower and Confederate Monument. The monument is a tribute to the Franklin, Tennessee soldiers who died in the American Civil War.
Carter House
If you’re a history lover, the Carter House is a must-see while in Franklin. The house was built in 1830 and was occupied by the Carter family during the Battle of Franklin. The family was hiding in the basement during the battle, and Tod Carter was deadly injured in the war. He died in the room early in the morning and was brough back home where he died several hours later. The house has been restored and is now a museum, but only the grounds can be visited. Whether you’re a history buff or not, the Carter House is definitely worth a visit.
Carnton
Carnton Plantation is a historic home and museum in Franklin. The plantation home was built in 1826. The museum is open to the public and offers tours of the home and grounds. During the Battle of Franklin, Carnton served as a hospital and morgue for over 1,000 Confederate soldiers. Today, the plantation is a National Historic Landmark and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Close to the museum, there is McGavock Cemetery, which is an Confederate cemetery, where many of the soldiers who died at the Battle of Franklin are buried. If you’re interested in history, Carnton is a great place to visit.
Visit Franklin Theatre
This is a historic movie theater in downtown Franklin, Tennessee. It was built in 1937 and is now on the National Register of Historic Places. The mission of the theatre is to provide world-class entertainment, live music and diverse educational opportunities for the people of Williamson County and the surrounding communities. Franklin Theatre is a great place to enjoy a night out while supporting a local landmark. The Franklin Theater features first-run movies and also hosts concerts, plays, and other special events. Lotz House Museum

You can taste some of the best Southern cooking here and enjoy some Southern hospitality.
